Beast Under the Bed

"The Nightmare never slumbers, it has a job instead.
To steal the light right from your dreams, to get inside your head.
To bring you to the brink of life with fear of death and dread,
the Nightmare never slumbers, to feed the beast under your bed."

Fun little poem I made to accompany the story my Nightmare piece "The Beast Under the Bed" tells. The nightmare being The Beast, or monster, under the bed being fed fear by the actual nightmare itself. This is my contest entry to the #DAhorrorchallenge , which I actually found out for the first time 2 days ago and immediately began working on this before the deadline. This context spoke to me personally with the prompt, as I've constantly struggled with nightmares of all kinds throughout my life, and love using any excuse to turn that into power for something greater (In this case, maybe winning a contest!)

It's also been a long time since I drew something just for fun, so this was a good excuse to try out some new techniques and tricks. I'm actually extremely happy with how it turned out in the end (I was going for a Haiyo Miyazaki meets Silent Hill vibe!) Anyways, thanks for looking guys and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it.
